Commercial photography covers a lot of ground, including images of buildings, models, merchandise, artifacts and landscapes to be used for promotional purposes in websites, books, reports, advertisements and catalogs, etc.
Generally speaking, it's mostly about sales and marketing materials for promotional efforts. Specific images may be categorized as Fashion Photography, Real Estate Photography, Portraiture, etc. But, the application of the finished image is to accurately represent the product being sold.
